Ready, Set Go…and Keep Going!

Ready, Set Go…and Keep Going!

Yup, that’s how I’ve felt over the last 2 weeks.  I’ve shifted so far from my goal of writing 2-3 times per week, but I have so much to tell you (keep reading!).  Life has been so busy.  Not bad busy, great busy…the type of busy that you can actually enjoy.  From recitals to graduating Kindergarten, I haven’t been able to even have a cup of Caramel Macchiato – now you know that’s a damn lie (lol).  I just wanted to make sure you were paying attention (wink).

UMMM Ice Cream Parlor – Family Friendly Review

UMMM Ice Cream Parlor – Local Review

UMMM is damn right!  This hidden gem was the last place I needed in my life with 3 little kids.  Since we’ve found out about this place, my girls ask for UMMM Ice Cream every day of the week.  We are still newbies to the area and try our best to support local businesses.  UMMM Ice Cream Parlor prides itself on providing quality homemade ice cream and waffle cones since 1982.  They’ve been voted Burlington County’s Best Ice Cream Shop and Best of the Best by South Jersey’s Magazine (resource: www.ummmicp.com) – just to mention a few.  While reading reviews on Yelp, I decided to take my girls on a mommy + me date to see if UMMM Ice Cream parlor can live up to its hype…

The PuffCuff – 2 Month Review For Kids

May 21, 2016

The PuffCuff Review for Kids

Tired of ponytail holder pulling at my daughters’ edges and the banana clip falling apart, I decided to research other alternatives that I can use to style my 3 daughters’ hair when their hair is not in a protective braiding style. After reading some initial reviews, I decided The PuffCuff Hair Clamp was exactly what I was looking for. So…I purchased the PuffCuff Jr (2 pcs.). The PuffCuff Jr worked really well for my 5-year-old daughter who has type 3C hair that is very thick and curly. However, when I tried to use this size with my twin 2-year-old daughters, the puff hold was too loose. This had nothing to do with the functionality of the hair clamp…it meant I needed another size as the twins hair is not as thick. Since I was pleased with my initial purchase, I made purchase #2 using the coupon the company provided in my first purchase and decided to go a step down to the PuffCuff Mini (3pcs). Also, I was able to find this chart below on their website that confirmed the size I needed for my twins. Boy oh boy, this chart was so helpful – great resource for buyers who need size confirmation. Based on this chart, I expected the PuffCuff Mini to fit just right…and it did!

Sun Safety for Kids – 5 Ways to Reduce Risk

Sun Safety for Kids – 5 Ways to Reduce Risk

One of the main reasons why adults are diagnosed with skin cancer is because they were exposed to too much sun, especially when they were young (resource: www.aad.org).  According to American Association of Dermatology, approximately 40-60% of sun exposure occurs before the age of 20.  As parents, we must do everything that we can do to protect our children’s skin NOW, to decrease their risk of getting skin cancer later on as adults.

Little Kinks & Coils – Wash Day Process

May 10, 2016

Little Kinks & Coils – Sunday = Wash Day!

Sunday is usually “hair day” for my girls.  Since I have 3 girls, this is usually an all-day process that I honestly dread.  It takes a lot (let’s say it again, a lot) of patience to fight it out with my 3 girls to wash, condition and style their hair.  With that being said, I try to keep it simple as possible but it’s still a struggle.

Growing up, my hair maintained a relaxer from the very beginning.  I don’t know what age my hair was relaxed but I was definitely young.  Over the last year or so, I have transitioned to no longer using relaxers and have vowed the same for my daughters’ hair as well.

We typically have the same Sunday morning hair routine and we rarely make changes to the process.  Confession time!!! I’m a hair junkie and love to randomly purchase hair products.  Therefore, products do change, but we rarely change the hair care process.  Here are the steps that work for me to care for children’s hair:

Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day

take your sons and daughters to work day

Last Thursday, Madison and I participated in our first Take Your Daughters and Sons to Work Day.  My daughter joined over 300 kids who also participated at my place of employment and enjoyed many fun, educational activities sponsored by them.  My employer organized a bunch of group activities with the children and also allowed for ‘shadow’ time with mommy or daddy.  Here’s a recap of Madison’s first experience.

Mommy + Me Plus a Freebie!

April 26, 2016
Mommy + Me

I love gifts…who doesn’t?  However, over the last few years, I’ve been less of a “gift” person and love to focus more on creating and enjoying the experiences.  To see the smiles on the faces that I love, gives me complete joy and that is my gift.  Needless to say, I honestly do not want an actual physical gift for Mother’s Day.  It will mean more to me to actually do something unique and exciting rather than the typical going out to eat, opening up a gift, blah, blah, blah…boring (to me at least)!
